Business and Web search software company Exalead (News - Alert) recently signed an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement with Atempo, a provider of cross-platform data protection and archiving solutions.

 

Under terms of the deal, Atempo will add Exalead’s Unified Information Access Software into its Enterprise Archiving Solution and will resell Exalead's Desktop Search Product for Business.

 

“Atempo exemplifies a next-generation data protection and archiving solution that demands a best-in-class partner to meet users' expectations for a consumer-like web search experience in all of their enterprise applications and exceed the current industry standards for enterprise search,” said Kevin Kramer, vice president for the OEM department at Exalead, in a statement.

 

Kramer continued: “By embedding the Exalead solution, Atempo can offer its customers the ability to quickly and intuitively access relevant information stored in ADA to help make informed business decisions and unlock the value of the large volume of enterprise data that is available to them.”

 

“Search is a critical component of Atempo's archiving platform," said Mark Sutter, CTO of Atempo. “With Exalead, we found a partner that has a uniquely scalable enterprise search capability that seamlessly integrates into our platform.”

 

The Exalead desktop search product is a solution that allows users to search for items wherever they are. Multimedia files, e-mails, contacts, tasks and notes, and other documents can be searched.

 

The features of Exalead’s OEM edition, one:enterprise, will be added to Atempo’s digital file archiving platform, Atempo Ditial Archive (ADA)—a efficient tool for storing and reclaiming important business processes.

 

End users will be the major beneficiaries from this deal by gaining a new way to handle files in archives with efficient index content and search capabilities. The new combined solution is expected to be especially attractive for companies in markets such as e-discovery and compliance.
