CAI Networks Intros New WebMux Load Balancer
By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor
CAI Networks, a provider of IP load balancers, has come out with a new firmware version for its WebMux application. This load balancer improves WebMux's HTTP
compression, manageability of Level 7 and DDoS attack protection. It ensures availability and reliability of Web sites, portals, and Web-based applications.
CAI Networks was started in 1987, and has since then delivered a variety of solutions for Internet appliances and servers used by businesses, government agencies, and Internet service providers (ISPs) around the world. The company is a member of the Oracle (News - Alert) Partner Network.
WebMux can automatically sense if the client’s Web browser supports HTTP compression
. Based on this information, it condenses data before sending it and later decompresses the data before presenting to the user/client. This feature can be disabled or enabled as required.
Though WebMux’s HTTP compression is compatible with all Web sites and Web-based applications, it can also be controlled with WebMux’s SSL acceleration and Layer 7 traffic management functionality.
The L7 traffic management features allow Web servers to take care of traffic. This traffic is sent to specific Web server pools, based on cookie and URL content. These features increase the performance of all Web servers, and reduce the amount of data transferred.
WebMux is an IPv6 compatible system application that operates at OSI
layers 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7. This facilitates content-aware switching and intelligent traffic management at wire speed.
