TECHtionary.com Releases SIP Security Checklist

By Jayashree Adkoli, TMCnet Contributing Editor

TECHtionary.com recently announced the release of its SIP Security Checklist, which incorporates an in-depth security planning tool for SIP-VoIP and IPT-Internet Protocol Telephony networks. The checklist contains fifty concepts for review.

With the help of this SIP Security Checklist, customers can plan, implement and expand their security with guidance, ideas and tools. It acts as a very vital guide for those working on VoIP/SIP for network solutions and premise-based implementations.

Paul Daubitz, President ATI-TeleManagement (a professional management consultancy), noted in a statement that security issues involved in VoIP/SIP are new to the industry. SIP Security Checklist helps organizations approach security issues and also understand  how and where attacks may come from. The checklist also contains a troubleshooting guide and quality of service (QoS) primer.

SIP Security Checklist also covers management & compliance, networks, servers, phone sets, softphones, wireless, session border controllers and other NAT considerations.

Matt Jolly, CTO, also noted that providers of SIP network solutions and those with premise equipment often leave customers to plan their own SIP security. He also commented that there is an increase in VoIP/SIP attacks and in product vulnerabilities. The SIP Security Checklist is not intended to serve merely as a review tool but also as a planning guide for daily security protection.

Tom Cross (News - Alert), CEO, TECHtionary, noted that the checklist takes SIP/OCS courses to the next level. Because SIP is a complex process, where a single location is not involved but encompasses nearly all aspects of business communications and computing, the various elements involved face great security challenges that require a comprehensive approach.
