Force10, AFORE Deliver Cloud Networking Solution
By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor
Force10 Networks has reportedly signed a global reseller agreement with AFORE, a provider of data center virtualization extension solutions. The company will now resell the Advanced Service Edge (ASE) products of AFORE as an integral part of its portfolio.
A combination of Force10 switching and routing solutions with AFORE’s network extension products enable multi-site, virtual data center solutions to seamlessly migrate to cloud computing environments.
The integration solution enables dynamic allocation of SANs and CPU resources across physical boundaries. This capability ensures that applications are available regardless of location. This cloud networking solution allows providers to capitalize on public, private and hybrid cloud architectures.
In a release, James Hanley, president, field operations, Force10, said the company is known for its strength in building high-performance data centers. He believes this new agreement with AFORE extends that reach and scope.
Both companies will now deliver a true end-to-end virtualized distributed infrastructure that aids application agility beyond a single site. Hanley recognizes that AFORE’s wide area virtualization extension solutions enhance their virtualization framework and provide a key cornerstone of Force 10’s cloud networking strategy and solution offering.
AFORE’s ASE technology specifically targets data center virtualization extension over Ethernet and IP WANs. Its VirtualWIRE and VirtualFIBER technology enhances Force10’s data center Ethernet switching products.
AFORE CEO Alex Berlin noted that cloud computing and virtualization are transforming traditional WANs.
Enterprises now demand comprehensive solutions required to effectively handle the dynamic nature and high availability of modern data centers. He stressed that AFORE’s ASE technology enables customers to leverage existing wide area solutions, transforming them to be cloud-ready.
“We are proud to strategically partner with a technology leader like Force10 to provide customers with solutions that effectively answer market needs,” he said.

Together, the technologies of Force10 Networks (News - Alert) and AFORE enable next generation, geographically distributed, and secure cloud services. These solutions facilitate a new wave of network-delivered solutions, and are best suited for enterprises, managed service providers, and government applications.
