Data Storage Buys NovaStor's Offsite Backup Business

By Jyothi Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Disaster recovery and business continuity solutions provider Data Storage Corporation has reportedly bought the offsite backup service business from its long time partner, NovaStor.

As per the agreement, NovaStor’s offsite backup service will be transferred to Data Storage Corporation immediately. The foundation of the service will continue to operate on NovaStor’s technology and the transition will appear seamless to end users of the service, said the company.

“NovaStor is very pleased with our selection of Data Storage Corporation to carry on the business that has been part of our company for almost a decade,” said Mike Andrews, a managing director at NovaStor.

He said that the entire Data Storage Corporation team exceeded his expectations, demonstrating the highest levels of professionalism, skill and product knowledge.

“This makes us confident that we have found the right home for our offsite backup service customers,” Andrews said.

Officials at Novastor said that the company’s decision to sell the offsite backup service was designed to remove any perception of competition with its partners and also to focus on developing software to enable partners to increase value-added revenues from their existing core customer base.

NovaStor’s wanted its offsite backup service to be passed on to a partner that could equal its level of service. Company expected its candidates to possess several years’ experience operating a successful offsite backup business utilizing NovaStor’s software and have experience maintaining the data center.

“Data Storage Corporation is thrilled with the opportunity to work with a quality partner like NovaStor while expanding upon our existing service business,” said Charles Piluso, chief executive officer of Data Storage.

“It is our strategy to differentiate our company by providing exceptional customer service while we continue to aggressively grow our recurring data protection service business organically and through strategic acquisitions,” Piluso added.

Data Storage was selected from a competitive group of NovaStor’s partners. The company provides businesses with backup and archiving of critical electronic data including virtual machines, email, databases, and servers assisting with regulatory compliance.
