CRG West Completes SAS 70 Certification at Boston, Chicago Data Centers

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor

CRG West, a developer, manager and operator of data centers, has completed SAS (News - Alert) 70 Type II certification at the company’s Boston and Chicago data centers. The company believes the completion of this certification process in Boston and Chicago has made the outsourced data center selection process more efficient for prospective customers from all industries.

The SAS 70 Type II certification involves a comprehensive auditing process that rigorously tests almost every aspect of a data center’s security procedures, processes, and infrastructure management.

Company officials point out that although their data centers are designed and managed to the highest standards, SAS 70 Type II certifications can help companies in meeting regulations associated a number of organizations.

The certification will aid enterprises to meet FDA (Code of Federal Regulations), HIPAA (the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), JCAHO (Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations), Sarbanes-Oxley, PCI (Payment Card Institute), FISMA (Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002), GLBA (Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act), and HSPD-12 (Homeland Security Presidential Directive).

“The choice of where a company deploys their mission-critical IT infrastructure is vital to business continuity,” said Billie Haggard, CRG (News - Alert) West vice president of Data Centers.

Many industries are moving toward heightened regulatory environments, and thus having a provider with a SAS 70 Type I or Type II certification can help them to easily validate the overall credibility of an outsourced data center provider.

CRG West provides wholesale data center space and colocation, connectivity services, remote hands support and an Internet exchange, called Any2.

Last month, the company made headlines when it began offering Verari Systems’ customers the capability to deploy Verari FOREST Containers in highly secure, protected CRG West data center environments. Verari Systems is a developer of independent blade-based computing and storage platforms for the data center with a high density, availability, and energy efficiency.
