Trillium Software Boosts Sevis' Signaling ASE System
By Shireen Dee, TMCnet Contributor
Continuous Computing, a telecom solutions provider, reportedly announced that Trillium, its source code protocol software, has been successfully tested by Sevis Systems on the latter’s Signaling ASE Platform.
Sevis Systems, a provider of signaling solutions, performed the testing with Trillium Signaling System 7(SS7)/ Signaling Transport and Professional Services, and Continuous Computing’s (News - Alert) in-house team of experts. The process has helped Sevis Systems achieve faster time-to-market and earned Telecordia certification.
SIGTRAN is an internationally accepted standard for defining transport of real-time signaling data over IP networks. SS7 is a standard for control signaling in Public Switched Transport Networks. It is the standard used by phone companies for the purpose of call set up, routing, billing, displaying caller information, short messaging service and information exchange.
SS7 signaling messages are carried over a separate network connection. The benefit of SS7 networks is that data traffic such as SMS data, which is saturating GSM providers’ SS7 networks, can be offloaded to IP networks. SS7 networks are designed for low transmission delays and high security of data packets. Both Trillium and Signaling ASE Platform work within the global SS7 network. Trillium SS7 enhances the signaling capability of telecommunication devices. It enables easy integration of older networks with next generation IP technologies.
“Working with Continuous Computing’s Professional Services team has been an exceptional experience due to the Trillium brand’s high standards of professionalism and the group’s ability to ensure timely delivery of important project milestones while working seamlessly with our customer’s engineering team,” said Mike Ashdown, chief technology officer at Sevis Systems.
Sevis Systems provides signaling solutions for network operators and telecom equipment providers.
It develops applications that are used by telecom companies supporting wireless and fixed land line networks for voice and data. Its Signaling ASE Application Suite is a carrier grade application platform. It does not require network reengineering, a feature that allows application developers to quickly build new products. The Signaling ASE platform forms the base of this suite.
“We are delighted to have assisted Sevis Systems in achieving speedy Telcordia certification, which positively impacts delivery cycles and time-to-money,” said Manish Singh (News - Alert), vice president of product line management at Continuous Computing. “Because of Trillium’s 20-year history and the robust internationalization of Trillium SS7/SIGTRAN, the software is highly interoperable and very widely deployed, which makes it simple, fast, and effective for our customers to use.”
