AboveNet Partners with London's Telehouse West Data Centre

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

AboveNet Communications UK Ltd has teamed up with Telehouse West data centre in London’s Docklands to allow the companies in London to benefit from AboveNet’s ultra-low latency, highly scalable and secure fiber network. AboveNet’s connections are already functioning in Telehouse North, Telehouse East and Telehouse Metro.

AboveNet can now provide an optimum and highly efficient data transfer service and meet the demands from companies requiring a high bandwidth, resilient network. Connecting to vital locations to support the growing need for high-bandwidth solutions, the agreement with Telehouse is part of AboveNet’s ongoing investment strategy. Connectivity is a key consideration to enhance performance and productivity in today’s increasingly competitive markets, the company feels.

Telehouse Europe offer data centre facilities and connectivity, providing a secure and resilient platform for mission critical IT systems. The company is at the heart of the internet and telecommunications infrastructure, serving over 700 customers worldwide, from small start-ups to multinationals across a wide range of industries.

“We are very pleased to connect to Telehouse West and enable customers to benefit from the fastest speeds and most secure connections to their vital data and applications. Telehouse is one of the largest international internet hubs in Europe and is therefore of huge strategic importance,” said John Donaldson, Managing Director, AboveNet UK. “Organizations are increasingly turning to Cloud services.”

With its partnership with Telehouse West, AboveNet can now offer direct, low-latency fiber-optic services to all of our London data centre customers. Further expanding the AboveNet network to data centers in London, this installation builds upon AboveNet’s existing connections to Telehouse North, Telehouse East and Telehouse Metro, the company stated in a press release.

Recently, TMCnet’s Hans Lewis reported that Optical Keyhole was carrying a two part discussion on network evolution, between AboveNet, and Nokia (News - Alert) Siemens Networks. In the discussion, Pathmal Gunawardana, head of Optical Networks for NSN North America and Rajiv Datta of AboveNet talk about the 40G market and evolution to 100G, from a vendor and service provider perspective, covering the economic issues, installed base and customer requirements.
