Colocation's 7Ticks Selects Interxion Data Center
By Vivek Naik, TMCnet Contributor
7Ticks reportedly has selected Interxion for equipment housing and connectivity within the Interxion London City data center to assist its high performance trading network solutions.
“We aim to provide the lowest latency connections in the industry, and our partnership with Interxion is an important factor in achieving these goals,” said Scott Caudell, chief technology officer and managing partner of 7ticks. “Interxion’s London facility provides world-class infrastructure, is located inside the city, and already contains a significant number of capital markets participants. In such a dynamic environment, our customers can improve performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.”
Officials at the 7Ticks claim that it can now avail of Interxion’s high-specification infrastructure and fast-growing capital markets and exchanges community to deliver ultra-low latency connectivity and networking services for its financial services customers.
For some time now, say official sources, trading customers have accepted, embraced and are effectively using its electronic and software solutions to run their operations efficiently. With 7Ticks low latency guarantee, companies can have small space offices within a financial hub without being too concerned about adequate equipment whereabouts because it has also constructed proximity POP’s for a significant number of exchanges, and whenever possible, co-locates in the same building as the exchange presence, running direct cross-connects into the 7ticks network infrastructure, say official sources.
“7ticks has built an excellent reputation for delivering high performance low latency solutions for its customers, and we are delighted to have them on board,” said Greg McCulloch, Managing Director for Interxion UK. “We look forward to building our relationship with them as we realise the full potential of Interxion’s London City data center as a leading financial hub.”
With the addition of the Geo network connectivity in September 2008, reported TMCnet, the Interxion City Data Center is now able to provide 2 kilowatts of power per square mile with N+1 redundancy and free air-cooling as standard, the latest alarm and monitoring systems, and, if required, the ability to set up advanced customer requirements such as 2N redundancy configurations and high power density of up to 20 kilo Watt per cabinet has also been provided.
In addition to its London-based infrastructure, TMCnet reported that Interxion has decided to expand the capacity of its Copenhagen center in order to meet growing customer demand for high-power-density colocation infrastructure, and the new 1,000 cubic meters of equipped space will be ready for customers starting May 2010 and will give access to the data center’s 10 mega Watt power supply, supporting exceptionally high-density power configurations of up to 17.5 kW per cabinet, and the build-out consolidates Interxion’s position as the leading carrier-neutral data center operator in the Danish market.
