Silver Peak Supports EMC Smarts IP Manager Products

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor

Silver Peak Systems reportedly has announced new support between the company’s NX appliances and EMC Smarts IP Availability Manager and Performance Manager.

With Silver Peak’s (News - Alert) wide area network acceleration devices – as well as EMC’s automated root-cause analysis and impact assessment tools – enterprises can now have “better visibility” into both the storage and WAN environments, officials from the companies say.

By working together, the solutions simplify device management and lowers the operational costs associated with ongoing infrastructure troubleshooting, they say.

NX appliances are a premier platform for scalable WAN acceleration. Officials said that the applications use real-time network optimization techniques to fix bandwidth, latency, and packet loss problems found in most WAN environments.

This helps in optimization of performance of all IP applications across the WAN, including EMC (News - Alert) Symmetrix Remote Data Facility and other replication solutions, according to officials.

Moreover, officials said that this deployment in conjunction with Smarts enables EMC customers to proactively manage and monitor a Silver Peak-enabled WAN, including centralized inventory management and more.

“By deploying Silver Peak’s NX appliances in conjunction with EMC Smarts, we are bringing the two worlds closer together for better end-to-end visibility and control,” said Jeff Aaron, vice president of marketing at Silver Peak.

Bob Quillin, senior director of product marketing for Resource Management Software at EMC, said that the company is taking its leadership one step further with EMC Smarts IP Availability Manager and Performance Manager operating in conjunction with Silver Peak NX appliances.

Quillin added that this will help customers manage and ensure consistent and reliable application performance for critical replication, disaster recovery, and distributed applications across their WAN environments.

Silver Peak’s NX appliances and Global Management System are available through the EMC Select Program. According to EMC officials, the program helps customers acquire all the required components of an information infrastructure solution directly from EMC.

This week, SilverPeak also announced that Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, Washington’s oldest winery, has selected Silver Peak NX appliances to optimize network performance amongst their wineries and remote offices.
